I couldn’t leave Las Vegas following the Olympia weekend without first stopping at the Bodi Cafe to visit with Ms Olympia Iris Kyle and bodybuilding’s samurai Hide Yamagishi. This was my first time at the City Athletic Club and this was what I found and why you should check them out the next time you get a workout in Las Vegas.

Not every day is filled with inspiration. Sometimes you put so much into a thing that all you can do is get it done and crash. Last weekends 5k for St Jude was filled with a lot of great stuff but even though the walk is done, my work is not. I am taking a few minutes to get life/work stuff done as I move towards wrapping up this great Misfits 4 Life team effort. A super thank you goes out to all of the real life superheroes who participated, we had 30 team members and that included the fabulous new World Champion Helle Trevino. And a super thank you goes out to all of our sponsoring and supporting team members. We can’t do what we do without you.

I am doing my annual “Misfits 4 Life” St Jude 5K this Saturday and this year we have a new custom “Cardillo Weight” belt donated by Steve Cardillo which is up for auction on eBay. This is a size XL belt signed by 18 women athletes. Seven (7) former Ms Olympia’s, Two (2) World Champions (including the current World Champion “Helle Trevino” along with 7 other top named IFBB Pro & NPC women athletes. A complete list of the women who so generously signed the belt so that we could auction it off for St Jude Children’s research hospital is listed on the eBay description. Getting the stress out today. My workouts help me deal with life’s ups and downs and this is part of why I train and why I promote strength training as I do. The benefits are many and way beyond what we see. This video shows me doing hammer curls with flexion at the top and bottom of the movement followed by flexing after the set.

I spent yesterday doing what could have been called “backbreaking” construction work to help my family with a home project. That was 7 hours of construction work and when the work was done I got a good nights rest and went into the gym to do my back workout this morning. By strength training I say no to allowing functional physical activities become impossible tasks because of aging and weakness. I love knowing that I could help myself when things need to get done and I love being able to help my family too. Keep moving friends and lets age up!
