I got to see a screening of the new Oliver Stone Move W. this weekend and walked out of the movie wondering why the movie was made, and what Oliver Stone’s point behind it was. The best part of the movie was Josh Brolin’s’ performance. He did a really nice job playing the role of W. aka “Jr.”, but that didn’t change the fact that I honestly had a hard time sitting through the movie. By the end of the film I found myself annoyed by the two hour reminder that (according to Stone) “Jr” was/is basically a stubborn, ex-party animal who is/was resentful of his dad for wanting him to grow up. That coupled with the reality that this silverspoon fed, late bloomer was voted into the White House twice, so that he could run this country by the seat of his pants was not my idea of time well spent.  I mailed in my vote this morning because I won’t be in Florida on election day and then proceeded to do my cardio to start my day properly. It was a great way for me to start my day, and I highly recommend that all Americans do the same.  Saturday night I went to a friends party and had the pleasure of meeting some great people who recently returned from Burning Man, an annual event held in the Nevada Black Rock desert. The pictures I included here are a couple of shots of the fantastic fire dancers who performed at the party. Having never been to Burning Man myself, I was very interested in learning about this unique, 1 week get away that included the pilgrimage of almost 50,000 people from all walks of life. Imagine a community of 50,000 artists, doctors, nurses, plumbers, teachers, mothers, fathers, brother, sisters and everyone in between, coming together to build a community in one of the harshest ecosystems imaginable to man. All of it set up, maintained and then cleaned up in such a manner, that all of its participants leave not a trace of their week long existence. You have to wonder, if that is even possible? The event is described as an experiment in community, self-expression and self-reliance, where at the end of a week of creating, building, sharing, helping, learning from and living with others, a constructed wooden man is burned in effigy. I’m not doing this event justice in this description because even as a passive listener to stories about what people got out of their Burning Man experiance I was left with a burning curiousity. Burning Woman at Burning Man 09?

 Red toes are for sucking. Never mind the wonderful foot massage I get when I have my pedicures. It was a day of tech issues and many bumps in the road as we work to continue adding new features and upgrades to our systems. At the end of the day we pushed pass most of our glitches and found our way. I could have gotten stressed out but figured that wouldn’t help anything, so instead I worked with my team and we patiently and diligently figured things out. Of course it helps to have a great, level headed team. Once we had everything under control, I relaxed with a manicure and pedicure and matching dark burgundy nails. Progress can be painful but it’s always best to just stay calm and focused. @{——— Denise
