It’s been a really long time since I shared my favorite movies with you so here goes my short list of the 2021 movies I actually got to see in 2021 and what I liked the best.
In no particular order:
“Shang-Chi” – A fun superhero ride with beautiful martial arts scenes and a wonderful BFF relationship.
“Don’t Look Up” – Thought provoking, scary and sad satirical look at so many things that affect our world today. Wonderful acting by a star-studded cast.
“Being the Ricardos”– I loved watching “I Love Lucy” growing up as a kid, so to get a behind the scenes look at the lives of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and to get a sense of what it took to make Desilu production work was fascinating to watch. I wasn’t sure about Javier Bardem and Nicole Kidman as Ricky and Lucy, but I really liked what they did with the roles. The rest of the cast and the acting was quick and fabulous. If you have an interest in television history and how the tv sausage is made you might enjoy this movie too!
“Cruella” – I had no idea I would find this movie so delicious! But I did! The two lead actors Emma Stone and Emma Thomas are FABULOUS!!!
Favorite Streaming TV series:
“Ted Lasso”– For the AMAZING ACTING from all of the actors which will hit you in the face and gut throughout the series! For the in your face cursing (even when it’s not fair) sometimes the only thing you can say is “FUCK OFF”!
And for the writing that brings all of the aforementioned ingredients together and reminds us about the beauty of believing in the inherent goodness of people.
