Even though I was sick most of last week, I was feeling well enough to be able to go to the Directors Guild of America Awards show last Saturday š Staying home all week proved to be a very smart move, because I didn’t want to miss this event. The star studded evening was filled with an incredible line up of actors, directors and assistant directors for both film and television. Needless to say, it was a real honor and a pleasure to be around the very best and brightest stars of the movie business. These are the people that make movie magic. The shows host was the very funny and very entertaining Jon Cryer, best known for his television hit show, Two and a Half Men. In attendance were Sean Penn, Jodie Foster, Christian Bale, Michael Sheen, Frank Langella and Marisa Tomei to name a few of the amazing actors. Danny Boyle won the best director award this year for his beautiful film Slumdog Millionaire (if you haven’t seen it, you should). The other amazing director nominees in attendance included Ron Howard who directed Frost/Nixon, Gus Van Sant who directed Milk, Christopher Nolan who directed Dark Night and David Fincher, who directed The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. And, as if all of that wasn’t enough excitement for one evening, the shows real highlight was actually a heart felt tribute, and honorary lifetime membership to the DGA that was presented to Roger Ebert. The man and the movie critic known the world over, that could arguably be called the director’s greatest friend or biggest foe. Diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2002, Roger Ebert has spent the last 6 years battling medical issues that cost him his ability to speak without using a computerized voice that he now uses. In a speech written by Roger and delivered by his wife Chaz, Roger said “The movies come closer than any other art form in giving us the experience of walking in someone else’s shoes. They expand us, they improve us, and sometimes they ennoble us. They also thrill us and make us laugh and cry, and for that gift, and for this honor tonight, I am very grateful”. This was the dedication and the speech that illuminated the experience and inspired the audience to their feet. It was an ovation that is representative of Roger Ebert’s dedication and appreciation of the DGA members craft. What a night! @{——— Denise
I’ve been quiet for a couple of days because I was trying to be a really good girl, just as I said I would. The good news is that I am feeling much much better and I’m back to work. I can’t wait to get to the gym tonight! In other good news, I just got word that my cam is being worked on and should be ready really, really soon. Keeping Fingers crossed. Denise
I’ve been drinking nothing but hot tea and home made soup and my throat and chest are still on fire. Last night it was a headache and when I got up this morning my throat and chest felt like I had a dragon roaring inside. š D
I’m fighting a cold and trying really hard to behave myself so that I don’t end up really sick. I’m such a bad patient too. I hate the fact that I couldn’t train today. But I decided that I should listen to my body and so I stayed home tonight sipping hot tea and working on my many projects…like a good little girl.Ā Don’t get used to it! š
They say stress will kill you, but researchers have also said that a healthy sex life, no matter what your age helps to keep you alive longer. My goal is to live a long, healthy and productive life. And that’s why I workout, run my business and have lots of Sex. It’s Good For You! : )
It’s Monday, one of my favorite days of the week and true to my nature, I was back at it in the gym and in the office. We got one step closer to our chat goals today with a new software upgrade and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this upgrade will work like I’m told is should.
It’s Sunday and I’m Rock’n out with Rock Band on some fun music sets, in between working with my editor extraordinary on our new videos. Every time I need a break I grab a guitar, my cow bell or my drum sticks and wail away!
Wow, this has been one hell of a week. Loaded with technical issues and frustrating problems I’m glad the week is over, even though I will spend some of the weekend working. I’m thinking a hot shower and a glass of wine is in order. TGIF. xoxo Denise
…those are the words that belong to the winner of a competition designed to find the best 6 words in a phrase that would best sum up today’s inauguration of our new president Barack Obama. Like so many people, I’ve spent quite a bit of time this weekend and today watching the events surrounding the presidential inauguration. It was a pleasure to listen to Barack talk about the reality of the hardships we face as a nation in a manner that would call upon our collective courage and unity, so that we could face our problems as a real community. Welcome Mr. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
I know Sunday is supposed to be the day of rest, but I’m thinking there’s no better time then the present. So off to the gym I go for a show workout, because sometimes a little bit goes a long way. Besides my workouts are a great way to keep my focus for the new work week ahead.
