It’s been a really long time since I shared my favorite movies with you so here goes my short list of the 2021 movies I actually got to see in 2021 and what I liked the best.
In no particular order:
“Shang-Chi” – A fun superhero ride with beautiful martial arts scenes and a wonderful BFF relationship.
“Don’t Look Up” – Thought provoking, scary and sad satirical look at so many things that affect our world today. Wonderful acting by a star-studded cast.
“Being the Ricardos”– I loved watching “I Love Lucy” growing up as a kid, so to get a behind the scenes look at the lives of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and to get a sense of what it took to make Desilu production work was fascinating to watch. I wasn’t sure about Javier Bardem and Nicole Kidman as Ricky and Lucy, but I really liked what they did with the roles. The rest of the cast and the acting was quick and fabulous. If you have an interest in television history and how the tv sausage is made you might enjoy this movie too!
“Cruella” – I had no idea I would find this movie so delicious! But I did! The two lead actors Emma Stone and Emma Thomas are FABULOUS!!!
Favorite Streaming TV series:
“Ted Lasso”– For the AMAZING ACTING from all of the actors which will hit you in the face and gut throughout the series! For the in your face cursing (even when it’s not fair) sometimes the only thing you can say is “FUCK OFF”!
And for the writing that brings all of the aforementioned ingredients together and reminds us about the beauty of believing in the inherent goodness of people.

I was able to successfully complete my 3.2 mile run for St Jude yesterday and I even shaved a few minutes off my running time from last years run. I haven’t reached my $2,500 fundraising goal yet but I am very very close and my other teammates are also working hard to continue our fundraising efforts. Thank you to everyone who sponsored me and encouraged me to continue this effort. If we can help one person dealing with cancer we have done a very good thing.

It’s almost time for me to do my 10th Annual 5K run for St Jude. My goal is to complete my run for the kids this weekend and that means I have to put my knees on ice before and after my run. I successfully completed my intervals today! And this is the snake that I met on the path. It was a classic “should I stay or should I go?” moment, so I did both! 5×5 minute running intervals with 1 minute of walking in between. Warm up & cool down included #stjude #running

Yesterday was a long hospital day with two of my loved ones needing surgery. They are both home today and doing fine and I am thankful! I spent hours watching, talking to and listening to the sounds of the hospital. These are the days that make me more aware of the wealth that is good health. Watching the nurses, doctors and all of the administrative staff made me think about the care of the caregiver. I said “thank you” a lot yesterday and I was so thankful for the staff that cared for us. When I thanked one of the nurses for being so kind she said “Oh it’s my pleasure. I love my job, and being kind to one another is something we should all do. That’s the easy stuff!” and I couldn’t agree more.

Dear members my construction project is coming along nicely, but wow what a mess I still have ahead. That said I won’t be doing a live member cam show this week but I will be back next week for our happy hour on October 1st.

Something is always in need of repair, replacement or just good old fashion love aka time and attention. This weekend we had a small glitch with the live cam show archive that was fixed this morning. It’s all part of the ongoing projects list…and there is never just one list of things to do. There are always multiple lists going at the same time. Anyway, the new live cam show is posted and should be working and looking good now. I hope you enjoy the show as the work continues I will share the progress.
