I just finished reading what has become one of my new top 5 books of all time. Lonesome Dove written by Larry McMurtry is filled with some of the richest characters I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I can honestly say that I am really going to miss having these characters in my life. If you are looking for a great book to read this is it, I also recommend seeing the television mini-series starring Robert Duval and Tommy Lee Jones. Did I mention the fact that I’m also a big Duval fans?

After a great workout this morning it was off to the office for a morning filled with appointments, followed by good old fashion office organization. It felt great to get into the office complete tasks and move things into filing cabinets. I went to see Scott Pilgrim vs The World last night and had a lot of fun watching this movie. I just loved some of the quirky characters with all of their bitchy, matter-of-fact attitudes, and I really enjoyed the music and the unorthodox shooting and editing style of this movie. I didn’t buy the love story, but I am always a fan of thinking out of box and I love it when directors take chances.  That’s my two cents 🙂  Happy Hump Day! Denise

Life is an adventure. Try something new this weekend and commit to going after something you really want. This was my first time driving an ATV through some pretty rough terrain. Big boulders, some pretty big bumps, winding  roads through the woods and even a small ditch found me close to losing control as I took on the unknown road. But in the end, I had a ton of fun, learned to drive that beast and grew in the process.

During my last trip to Florida I visited Gatorland and while I was there I saw this and thought..Hmmm something about this pictures seems a little off, and then I remembered the fable of the Scorpion and the Turtle and  smiled and wondered.

A scorpion, being a very bad swimmer, asked a turtle to carry him on its back across a river. “Are you mad?” exclaimed the turtle. “You’ll sting me while I’m swimming and I’ll drown.” “My dear turtle,” exalted the scorpion, “If I was to sting you, you would drown and I’d go down with you. Now where is the logic in that?” “You’re right,” said the turtle. “Hop on.” The scorpion climbed aboard and halfway across the river gave the turtle a mighty sting. As they both sank to the bottom, the turtle asked, “Before I die, I must ask you something? You said there is no logic in your stinging me. Why did you do it?” “It has nothing to do with logic,” the drowning scorpion replied. “It’s just my nature.”

These images beg the question, Did the turtle change the odds of getting hurt by simply being on top this time?  I think probably not because, most creatures will remain consistent in their deeds, words and actions, based on their previous history – ultimately revealing their true nature.  🙂

Did you miss my live cam show workout this week?
Running my cam show from my home gym allowed me to do a workout that I had missed earlier in the week. It also meant that I would be working out without air conditioning because the lights kept blowing the circuits, but that wasn’t a problem for me. I actually loved worked up a dripping wet sweat and when the temperature got too high I simply removed my workout clothes and emptied my water bottles to help cool off.
