From Las Vegas to Los Angeles following the 2012 Olympia weekend. Today was a day of travel. These are just a few images from the expo, with more photos of the people and the fun I had while I was there. I’m turning in early so that I can start my day with a run first thing in the morning. I am officially 27 days away from my challenge and 40 % of the way towards my goal. Train like a warrior!

Dear Diary, I started running again last week in preparation for my October 27th Warrior Dash obstacle course run, to raise money for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I’m actually leading a team of Real Life Superhero friends – who, like me, want to challenge themselves to be fitter, and who also want to help sick kids get healthy. Pretty cool huh?
Did I tell you that I hate running? And that even though cardio is a part of my normal daily training routine, in over 25 years my training has never included running. So I’m challenging myself to do something I REALLY DON’T LIKE TO DO, hoping to inspire my friends to do the same, and trying to raise money for sick kids who don’t have a choice. They have to stand and fight because the option of flight is just not within their reach…YET!

I got out of the house yesterday after a week of fighting a cold and doing my best to behave myself, so that I would kick the cold quickly. I met with a friend who I have been talking to for years but never actually got to meet until yesterday. Tony is one of those people that you feel you know after talking to him just one time and, he is basically just an awesome guy! While we sat at Starbucks sipping iced coffee, a beautiful woman ran over and interrupted us because she could tell that I “compete” and she just had to ask me how she could get started herself. “I want to compete and when I saw you I just freaked and had to come over – you compete don’t you? Wow, you look awesome, can you tell me how I can compete?” The funny thing about it was that when I asked her what she wanted to compete in, she didn’t know. “Well I don’t know, but I’m going to start working our right away” is what she said. Tony (a long time fan of bodybuilding) and I just looked at each other and smiled. One of my goals is to motivate others to workout and the cool thing was that this sweet girl was clearly inspired and all I needed to do is encourage her and send her to the internet where she could find all of the information she needed to get started with the National Physique Committee. Starbucks, Tony and a pretty new aspiring female bodybuilder was exactly what the doctor ordered.

I’m just now getting back on track from my weekend in Columbus, Ohio for this years Arnold Sports Festival where I spent time at the Muscle Pinups booth with friends and fans alike.  It was another great reunion filled with extraordinary performances from athletes who competed in a wide variety of events from all over the world.
