This morning I did my cardio training by joining my friend Sakura’s Relay for Life team in Venice, California. The event was a 24 hour relay honoring cancer survivors, care givers and people who wanted to volunteer and support the American Cancer Society. I spent 3 hours on the track, did 20 laps, walked 4 miles and ran 1 mile and it was great to be a part of it all. The people in this 1st photo wearing the purple t-shirts are all survivors, and the dog was a loyal friend and walking partner that reminded us all that help and support comes in all shapes, sizes, forms and species. It was an amazing experience. One that filled me with sadness as I try to honor and remember my Aunt Carmen and also filled me will joy, gratitude and appreciation for the hope and positivity that I comes out of days like today. And just in case you are wondering, my entire body is sore from running and walking today. Thank you Relay for Life for kicking me in the butt with my first time back to running in a very long while!
